Bees and beneficial insects play an essential role as pollinators in ourgardens. They transfer pollen from one flower to another, fertilising plants sothey start forming fruits and seeds. Bees and other beneficial insects pollinateapproximately 70 of the top 100 most popular food crops, and 80% of allflowering plants on Earth!

Unfortunately, bees and other beneficial insects are under increasing threatdue to pesticides, parasites and climate change – but we can help them byusing responsible gardening practices, planting flowers to attract them andproviding them with shelter.

Our hexagonal Bee & Insect Sanctuary Kit contains a hexagonal woodensanctuary and a sachet of pollinator friendly flower seeds to help attract beesand beneficial insects to your garden. The seed mix is made up of the followingvarieties and covers approximately 2m2:

This kit is most suited towards solitary bees and other beneficial insects;it is not a honey hive. The sanctuary is coated in a nontoxic oil for protectionmaking it weatherproof and safe for bees and insects. It is also made of FSCtimber, meaning it is responsibly sourced and eco-friendly.

How To Grow
To use, simply hook a piece of wire into the back loop of the sanctuary andattach to a tree trunk or branch or simply place amongst the garden.

Sowing your seeds:

Prepare the chosen area for your seeds by turning or raking the soil untilyou have a good crumbly consistency, removing any stones and weeds as yougo.
2. Open the seed sachet and shake out the seeds thinly and evenly directly overthe prepared area.
3. Gently rake over the seedbed to lightly cover the seeds.
4. Water well until the plants are established.

  • Some perennial varieties may not flower until the second year.
  • Once the flowers start to appear, bees and other beneficial insects willsoon follow, and your garden will be a hive of activity!

Delivery Times

Due to the high level of demand we kindly ask that customers be patient with us and to expect that orders will take longer than usual to be dispatched during Level 3. 

Due to the significant increase in the number of parcels being sent around New Zealand at present and additional safety procedures in place for COVID-19, NZ Post is experiencing some delivery delays. Please allow an additional 5 working days after dispatch for delivery of your order.

We encourage you to track your delivery progress using NZ Post's Tracking tool and contact us if your delivery is overdue by more than these 5 working days after dispatch.

Heavy and Bulky Goods

Please allow an extra 1-3 days for heavy and bulky goods like chairs and desks.

New Zealand Delivery Rates

We charge a flat rate of $4.90 NZD per shipment, not including heavy and bulky goods. 

Please note we have a $50-$60 rate for shipping heavy and bulky goods like chairs and desks which will be calculated at checkout. 

Most orders are shipped using New Zealand Post and these parcels are shipped with no-signature required. For our heavy and bulky goods, these are shipped via Mainfreight with signature required.
